AGAPE VOCATION

Urgent update

On Monday June 30th, There was a heavy thunderstorm that brought down the building. The girls called their supervisor to report the disaster. Despite the pouring rain, they went through the wreckage and gathered their essential equipment. Their supervisor arrived in the morning and this video recording of the devastation.

We have created a Workshop Rebuilding Fund to directly help the rebuilding efforts to get the workshop back in operation.

To make a donation, please make check payable to Christ Light Global Ministry, specifying “Workshop Rebuilding Fund” in the memo line. Mail to:

REPORT ON THE GIRLS FROM THE AGAPE VOCATIONAL SCHOOL

Date: Monday, 02 June 2025

Project Overview:

Our Vocational Training initiative, supported by your generous sponsorship, is empowering young indigent girls in our community by equipping them with valuable skills and fostering independence. The programme focuses on providing vocational training, mentorship, and practical experience in various skills, ensuring the girls can secure employment or start their own businesses so as to improve their economic prospects thus helping to break cycles of poverty and limited opportunities.

We started with four (4) girls learning the garment making skill. The program was planned to run for three years after which the girls, after graduation, would have been well equipped and available to help mentor other girls in same skills they have acquired.

Key Achievements:

1. Skill Development:

  • Three (3) of the four girls have shown significant progress in mastering sewing techniques, patternmaking, and garment construction.

  • We consistently received positive feedback from their instructors for their attention to detail and creativity.

  • At the end of their three years training, two of them were able to sit for the external exams set by the government. To God be the glory, they both made it through.

2. Personal Growth:

  • The girls have grown in their confidence allowing them to take on more complex tasks and patterns.

  • They have developed a strong work ethic and are working hard on a passion for delivering high-quality service.

3. Spiritual and Life Skills Growth:

  • Regular Bible study sessions have strengthened the girls’ faith.

  • During this time, they committed to walk with the Lord and were all baptized.

  • Their commitment to Christ is so remarkable that they are actively involved in church ministry.

  • One of them serves as interpreter for the pastor of the church while the others joined the musical group of the church

  • .Workshops on financial literacy, time management, and self-confidence have complemented their technical training.

  • They also had workshops on soap making – liquid and bar soap – which they have mastered. In fact, they produce what we use.

Challenges:

  • One of the girls learning tailoring, Kodjo Christiane, found it difficult to proceed despite all the efforts put into her training. We encouraged her to change trade, but she insisted on tailoring, even though she was not coping. After all said and done, her father decided to withdraw her.

  • Another of the girls, Fadonougbo Ruth could not register for the external exam after the apprenticeship because her national identity card had an error on it. She will have to register next year.

  • The other two girls remaining, Abraham Esther and Oke Jacqueline took the exam and they passed. They are preparing for their graduation now and we are trusting God for provision to settle them.

  • Last month, we had a serious rainstorm that destroyed the structure we put up which housed the workshop, classroom, and garage. We are trusting God to help us put up a stronger structure for the workshop, to ensure continuity.

Plans:

  • Seek funding to build and equip the training workshop.

  • Establish a small workshop where participants can create sellable products, generating income for the program.

  • Seek additional funding to provide sewing machines for graduates, ensuring they can work independently.

  • Introduce advanced training modules in areas like fashion design and digital patternmaking.

Appreciation:

We deeply appreciate your partnership in empowering these young girls. Your support has made a tangible difference in their lives and career aspirations. We are profoundly grateful that you obeyed the nudging of the Holy Spirit to partner with us on this project and we look forward to continuing this journey together. In fact, yours was the only source of support we received and we remain eternally grateful for it. May the Almighty, whose you are and whom you served faithfully remember your labour of love and reward you beyond your expectations.

If it were possible for you to pay us a visit, it will be greatly appreciated. We believe your presence would greatly encourage us, strengthen our collaboration, and highlight the impact of your contributions.

Thank you for your unwavering faith and commitment to investing into and transforming lives of the indigent girl-child through vocational training.

Best regards,

Emilia Ogigirigi

Vocational Training Center for Girls

CLGM is supporting Agape Couture, a Vocational Training Center for Girls in Cotonou, the Republic of Benin, (a Francophone country in West Africa), in the training of girls with $100.00/month/student to cover cost of feeding, health, and sanitary needs. The teachers are learning and introducing Unity concepts and principles to the girls. They have translated The Prayer for Protection and The Prayer of Faith into Yoruba and French and the girls have learned and are reciting these prayers in their own language.
